Are shelling cruises worth it?

Hi - wondering about the shelling cruises - as to whether they're really worth going on? By doing to another island - are you really going to find more/better shells than just staying on Sanibel? I do want to take the family on some kind of cruise while we're there, but wonder if we'd be better off with doing one that is more geared towards just sightseeing and wildlife viewing?

Would love to hear input on either type of cruise option!

Im back--we rented a boat from Jensens and it was the best day. No GPS..a small chart and line of sight navigation. But it was safe and easy. We went to Cayo Costa and then Cabbage Key for our Cheeseburger in Paradise.

I agree with the shelling at the lighthouse and Blind Pass. I've found some of the best shells there
