Redington Ambassador-what to do?

We are staying at the Redington Ambassador for a week this summer. Our party consists of 4 adults and 5 kids ranging in age 13-21. It seems this hotel doesn't have a lot of amenities. How do we entertain the kids?

These activities are mostly in St. Pete Beach. (3.5 miles due south) Rent/buy cheap fishing rods, let them fish off a seawall, just be careful how they handle what they catch. Rent beach bikes at Merry Pier in Pass-a-Grille or Finish Line Scooters and go exploring on bikes. Try "Kids Beach Tours" to get the lay of the land. They have a mondo tour that is more for older kids I think. Just google any of these places or attractions to locate them.

Have a wonderful vacation.

Besides the beach!?!? :-)

Redington Beach is between Saint Pete Beach and Clearwater Beach, both of which have lots to do. You will be on the Beach Trolley route, so the kids will have easy access to these two beaches, and all of the quieter beaches along the way.

They might enjoy a visit to John's Pass, a fishing village and boardwalk with lots of shops, watersports (jet ski rental, parasailing, dolphin watch rides).

A visit to Fort Desoto is interesting for all ages. There is an old fort, biking, kayaking, nature trails, fishing piers.

There is a fun nightly sunset celebration in Clearwater Beach.

Tradewinds Island Grand Resort in St Pete Beach has more entertainment/activities than you can shake a stick at! Kids that age might like flying above the water with a jet pack!

If they like baseball, they might enjoy watching the Rays at Tropicana Field in St Petersburg.

And over in Tampa, there is Busch Gardens, Florida Aquarium, Lowry Park Zoo, Ybor City, Big Cat Rescue... :-)

Clearwater Beach is a fun beach town. If you go up for the nightly celebration at Pier 60 - why not stay for the day? There is an aquarium where Winter - the star of the movie The Dolphin Tale resides. It would be interesting to spend a few hours there. They also offer a cruise from the aquarium - throw out a catch net and let the kids see the sea life they pull in.

At the Marina is a Pirate Cruise - fun cruise for kids with face painting and a good chance of seeing dolphins. There is mini golf in Clearwater Beach - and several closer to Redington Beach - might be fun for the kids. There are shelling cruises and dolphin watch cruises in the area that the kids might enjoy as we'll. if you want a day trip - Bush Gardens, Adventure Land, Tampa Zoo or the Tampa Aquarium are located in Tampa and all would be fun for kids.

The beautiful beaches and pool time will be the major activities, but another fun- for- all item that hasn't been mentioned is taking a Segway Tour along the beaches at Ft. DeSoto or the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront.

What ever you do, hope you have a great time on the Gulf Coast Barrier Islands!
