Nice and warm with maybe a few showers. Pls check out Vistas on the Gulf. Lots of things to see and do depending on your taste, from shopping to art galleries and just a nice long walk on the sand......

The Don Cesar is right on the beach and is very nice. It is a little expensive though. The weather is great in mid October. We get an occasionall cold front that time of year, so be sure to pack a couple warm outfits or a least a jacket. Often it is warm during the day with the sun out, but then can be a bit chilly at night. Other times in October, it is just like summer, but slightly cooler and not as humid. I love October in FL. I recommend the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Pete, especially if you like art.

You'll def. be able to go in the water. It's our favorite time of year to be in Florida! There are very few kids nd you'll always be able to find a place on the beach. Just watch the weather, because October is still hurricane season. Mid-Oct is usually the Grouper Festival at John's Pass. It's a huge art festival/wine tasting/fish fry extravaganza. If you're there during the festival, I'd give it a whirl. Also, the Dali Museum and the Holocaust Museum in St. Pete are both great for a rainy day (if you have any of those).

Also, stone crab season starts in mid-October, so be sure to order some of those before you leave....yummmm!

Have fun.

Weather, and water, are perfect in October! In my opinion, it's the best month to visit florida. Our weather is still warm, but not hot & humid like earlier in the summer. Water is still warm enough for swimming. You can expect 80s during the day and it cools off nicely in the evening (low 70s/high 60s).

As for places to stay - depends on how much money you want to spend. The Don Cesar is the classiest place on St. Pete beach, but be prepared to pay for it. The Holiday Inn is affordable, but older and it shows. If you are looking for something in the middle of the road - check out The Sirata, The Dolphin Hotel or The Tradewinds.

Happy Travels!
