Guidance on Home Locations on SGI Plantation

Hello all, We are planning a SGI family vacation with multiple families and many children for late July / early Aug 2013. Would appreciate guidance and advice on houses that are near the Sykes Cut? Are stronger tides, larger fish issues, and higher fishermen traffic an issue if we look at houses on the West End of Plantation near the Cut? Thanks in advance for the input. Warm regards, Bill G

a few points generally the lots are smaller so density of homes is higher whoich translates to more people on beach There are lots more homes on 2nd tier ie one back from beach so again more people.

Closer to the cut means closer to the jelly fish that come from thje bay

Its a much longer drive from the entrance--so each time you need something itll be a 20 minute trip

therell be fisherman parking near your house who wi;ll fish the cut

i always try and get on a street near the entrance--we had a huge house last year, sleeps 20, but cant recall rhe name.PM me if you want me to look it up.Also id try to find a house with a pool and an elevator--its fun sitting around the pool at night

There is a wide variety of vacation rental options in the St. George Plantation that can accommodate large family groups. There are a number of homes located in Schooner's Landing -the westernmost neighborhood in the Plantation that abuts the Cut. The beachfront lots in Schooner's Landing are one acre lots that are 80 feet wide, while the first tier lots are half an acre and are also 80 feet wide. The fishing is plentiful - Anglers enjoy fishing from the rocks that line the edge of the Cut and from some areas of the beach as well as in boats. A variety of fish species are caught in a wide range of sizes. The current tends to be stronger the closer you get to the Cut due to its funneling motion. Families enjoy the beaches in this area for swimming, beachcombing, sandcastle building and relaxing. Hope this helps! Feel free to contact us with specific questions about specific properties. We are more than happy to assist.

Best Wishes,
