Universal: 2 single pass tickets = 1 park hopper ticket?

A bit of an interesting scenario here..

We'll be going to Universal for 2 days, one day at IOA and one day at Universal studios.

The main reason we're going is for HP world, so we were considering getting park hopper tickets so we could spend some more time there on the 2nd day if we didn't feel we'd done enough the first day, and still check out Universal studios in the afternoon.

However, I see that universal has a deal going on right now where you get 3 days for the price of 2. If we buy that without the parkhopper option, on the 2nd day could we use one of the tickets at IOA and then use the 3rd day's ticket at Universal studios on the 2nd day? Are they just straight up entry tickets or are they tied to our names/dates?

It would be a single ticket for 3 separate days, one park each day. No, you couldn't use up the 3rd day as a visit to the second park on the second day. Harry Potter is not a very big section of IOA. Though you may indeed want to go back for more on your second day (to redo stuff), you can certainly cover everything in IOA in one day.
