orlando accommodation

My daughter and her boyfriend, age 19 and 21 are trying to decide which is the best area for them to stay in, in Orlando. They will be visiting all the Disney parks and Universal studios, but will not be hiring a car. Their budget is mid-price. They want to get to the parks easily and would also like to have easy access to Downtown Disney in the evening. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would stay on Disney property - they'll have use of their bus system for free to get around the Disney Parks and then can arrange transportation to Universal on the days they go there.

Either Port Orleans resort has a boat to DTD. Saratoga Springs ( a little more expensive) is within walking distance.

The Disney and Universal Parks are 10-15 miles apart. However, if you want access to Disney and Downtown Disney without the expense on staying on site, look at one of the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd in Lake Buena Vista. Check for the schedule for the Disney shuttles from the individual hotel. Check posts by Scan for the Lynx busses for other transportation. It will not be near as convenient as having a car, but they will get you around for cheap if you have the time.
