New pub at Pleasure Island

I saw this in my DVC letter, and hadn't seen it discussed so I'm passing it on:

"Take me home Raglan Road

The Raglan Road™ Irish Pub and Restaurant, originally slated to open at Pleasure Island in August, is nearing completion as this edition of Member Clubhouse heads to your inbox and is on target for an October debut.

This new Downtown Disney destination features cuisine from Ireland's renowned Chef Kevin Dundon (traditional Irish fare with a modern flair), along with Irish furnishings, music, storytelling and more, capturing the country's warmth, character and hospitality.

Owned and operated by Great Irish Pubs Florida, Inc. (the Irish-owned company behind the Nine Fine Irishmen pub and restaurant at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas), Raglan Road occupies the building that formerly housed the Pleasure Island Jazz Company.

Raglan Road doesn't require paid admission. "

Really hope the whole Disney thing doesnt get too British.........I suppose Disney have their eye on the dollar and as more and more British arrive in their hordes they are catering for the masses.

Personally when we travel either USA or elsewhere we avoid British influenced eating places etc.(cant think of anything worse than a pint and fish and chips at World Showcase)

If im not mistaken the pub is Irish, didn't say northern or southern !!

I agree with Little that its strange that people go half the way round the world and want to eat BRITISH food, although Nine was very good in Vegas !

I guess whereever you go, people always seem to want a little piece of home with them, which is why these places do so well! Same reason all the Aussies, Kiwis and South Africans always congregate at Walkabouts etc!

I personally can't wait to try Raglan Road at Downtown Disney, in fact I just made Priority seating arrangements for Wednesday, December 7, 2005. I have been to various Irish pubs around the world including several in Ireland and they have always been the warmest, friendliest places around. Rose and Crown in Epcot is enjoyable, but I'm hoping this has the more cozy, irish feel to it.

See you there!
