waterparks/thunderstorms

if you visit one of the waterparks - Typhoon lagoon or splash mountain and a thunderstorm occurs do they close it down completely and ask you to leave or can you stay and wait for the storm to pass.

I realise of course that for safety reasons you wouldn't go into the pools.

From what I have read on various forums, I think they close the park. With Splash Mountain they just suspend the ride whilst there is a thunderstorm and reinstate it once it has passed.

Last year(July) we were allowed to stay in the park for a while out of the main area (to see if it was going to pass) and then they decided to close it so we had to leave. We had all had a good day so we didn't mind. Typhoon Lagoon is our favourite but Blizzard Beach is pretty good too. BTW Splash Mountain is a ride in Magic Kingdom - not sure what happens in a thunderstorm there. Fortunately had a good weather when in Magic Kingdom. Last year we drove to Busch Gardens only to find the rides all closed so we just had to go home. we went back another day - it was fun too.

Was in Typhoon when the pre hurricane (Charlie) t/storms rolled in last August. They just moved everyone out of the main area. But it lasted for a while so they moved everyone outside the front entrance. Once it had passed they let everyone back in. We were soaked so we just decided to go back to the apartments and get some supplies in for the oncoming hurricane!

Splash Mountain will close if there is lightning within approx 5-10 miles. This is the same with most outdoor rides, but they open as soon as its passed. We usually just went and either got lunch or went on an indoor ride. It's really not a problem in the end.
