List of Must do's (please help with your tips)

We have two boys 11 & 8 spending 17 nights in orlando. This is going to be a once in a lifetime trip so I want to make the most of it. I am reading the unnoficial Guide to WDW and I have read many posts on here. I have booked discovery cove swim package and we get Sea World tickets with that. We also have WDW tickets and Universal tickets. What I am looking at now is things we should make sure we do and any tips people might have, i.e needing to book for things in advance, shows we must see etc. We don't have an endless pot of gold so good value tips would be great to.

Thanks for your help.

We need to know what time of year and for how long you'll be here. There are some variables that are seasonally dependant.

Write an itinery now, mapping out exactly where you plan to go each day. that way you can spread out your rest days evenly. On the days you are going to the parks, get up early. Be at the park as it opens and do the big rides early. Plan your days around the shows. I would recommend Busch Gardens, about 1 1/2 hours away. It is a massive park but is quieter than Orlando.

Enjoy yourselves!!!

If you want to do any character meals at Disney you need to ring the priority seating line and book these in advance.

To save money, fill yourself and the kids up at one of the breakfast buffet resturants that are in abundance in the tourist areas of Orlando and then just take some snacks for while you are wandering around the parks, buy bottled water at the supermarket beforehand too. There is a huge McDonalds on International Drive which as a pizza parlour, ice cream parlour and a play area, i'm sure your boys will love it! Go to Sea World early and take in ALL the shows, they are all great, they also have an area where you can feed the dolphins and they have people scattered around taking photos of it, if you are lucky enough to get your photo taken it's around $25 for the large size, but it's a great momento of your trip - i have mine in pride of place in the living room! I'm also pretty sure your kids would love Wet & Wild which is on I Drive, a great place for mum to chill out while the kids play on the waterslides!

"Show": Possible launch of the Space Shuttle

May 15th is the opening of the launch window for DISCOVERY on NASA's Return to Flight program for the space shuttle.

This window extends through June 3rd.

Stay tuned to the local TV/radio news when you get here. If DISCOVERY launches, you'll be able to see it from Orlando depending on cloud cover. However, it's a lot better seen from closer to the Kennedy Space Center - Titusville or Port Canaveral's Jetty Park.

This is something Im annoyed at we are due to return to the U K on May 12th I would so much like to see a Shuttle Launchwe have been to Orlando 2 times before and never been there when a launch is due. We went to KSC and had a great day out we went into the mock up control room , it makes the hairs stand out on the back of your neck. I do hope that all goes well for the next crews on their mission to space.
