Have you rented grey heron or sol Mate?

We have stayed on Captiva many times. Usually at Southseas or by the Village. Has anyone rented Sol Mate or Grey Heron?

We have not stayed on the south side of Captiva.

Are the beaches similar? Is there a strong undertow?

Do you miss not being in walking distance of village?

We stay at Sunset Too every year over Thanksgiving. It is the cottage next door to the north of Sol Mate. On the years that our friends and extended family join us they rent Sol Mate (used to be Beach House). Sol Mate is a very spacious house with a great open feel to it. We especially like the upper sun deck..........it's an excellent place to sit with your favorite beverage and watch the sunset.

We have spent Thanksgiving in Captiva also. have you ever spent Christmas there. I am concerned that if the weather is chilly we might regret not having a heated pool.

Sol Mate looks like it has a lot of beachside roof overhang.

Does it feel dark inside?

We usually spend Turkey in a place on Andy Rosse Lane. Probably have shared beach space with ya!

Sol Mate has a vaulted ceiling with a lot of glass on the Gulf side so it is not dark at all on the inside. I don't know how many people you have coming or what your budget is but you might want to check out the Stafford house. It is gulf front and has a heated pool and a hot tub. It's on the end of Wightman Lane. Here's a link to AMRCs description.

We rented Sol Mate last year. A lovely and very large home, gulf front, with lots of glass for a nice view. It was very spacious (we had ten people and were very comfortable), with a variety of sitting areas, large center kitchen island with seating plus a very large dining table. Two levels of outdoor decking as well. It really had everything you could need including good beach furniture. It's perhaps slightly dated in decor and furnishings, but everything is in good shape. If you're bringing children, you won't have to worry over luxury furnishings!

The beach is on the narrow side, with a bit of a step-down to the water - although time and tide may have changed this. Not crowded, since these are all private homes. Lovely sunsets. It is an easy walk to the Village either by the beach or through the streets. The Green Flash is a very short walk as well.

A very comfortable place for a large group, lots of nooks and privacy for all. We plan to go back again in August.

Hope that helped!
