Although the weather can be variable in December, it most usually is pretty nice with mild, sunny days and temps in the 70's. The ocean will be cool by then, but pleasant to be in on a warm, sunny day. To be on the safe side, make sure the place you are staying heats their pool in December and at a resonable temperature. Many places may not yet be heating their pool or may keep the temp too low (under 82) to really be very swimable--they usually cite cost as a factor because it's not really busy yet. The other factor that comes into play is the wind. By this time of year most of the breeze comes out of the Northeast and it can be fairly windy at times which will make it seem cooler than it is right on the ocean.

yes, its hit or miss. sometimes very warm with temps in the 80's, sometimes cooler with temps in the 60's, but normally it's very pleasant. The ocean is much of the same. It all depends on the fronts. If we have no major cold fronts before then, it's probable that the ocean will still be quite warm. If we get fronts though, it'll probably be in the 60's.
