replacement for The Vanderbilt Inn Naples.

Now that the Vanderbilt inn has closed in Naples Florida, are there any good alternatives in the Naples area that are right on the Beach, and not too expensive?

I am not sure how the rates compare - but these are the beachfront that come to mind -

Naples Grand is located in the same area as Vanderbilt was

Another is Edgewater Beach Hotel and Club or try LaPlaya - all are beachfront.

An alternative waterfront (on Naples Bay) is Cove Inn - website is

http://www.coveinnnaples.com/ - rates are as low as $89 for a Bayside hotel room in summer up to $365 for a 2 bedroom bayside suite in season

North in Bonita is Trianon on Bonita Bay - website is

http://www.trianon.com/homebay.htm

with rates from $95 in summer

or Trianon Old Naples is about 5 minutes from the beach - website is http://www.trianon.com/homenap.htm

I don't know what you mean by "alternatives" because we would go to the Vanderbilt Inn on Sundays to listen to live music and dance. The alternative for that is the Beach Club. The others are good options for places to stay. I'd add LaPlaya but it's not cheap.

There are'nt many Vanderbilit Inn replacements around anymore. It was one of a kind for Sunday entertainment. My only other suggestion is Doc's Beach House on Bonita Beach. It's off Bonita Beach Road and the Gulf. Good burgers, not bad pizza and a Chicago hangout (I believe it's still owned by a former Chicagoan). You can even park. They have valet parking right on the beach if you can not find a spot in the metered parking next door. Enjoy it soon it may need a replacement soon also. Shopper44, Lemont, IL.

I second Shopper44's suggestion of Doc's Beach House. It's a "must-do" for me every time I'm in the Naples area. I think their pizza is much better than "not bad".

The Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club has a good beachfront/poolside open-air bar.
