Bus service in Miami

I am 65. My 2 granddaughters (13 & 15) and I will be spending Spring Break in South Beach. We would like to take the Airport Flyer into town and then use the local buses for transit around Miami. Can someone explain how we go about buying "Smart Cards" and if that is the best way to go? Can we get them ahead of time? The web site is a little hard to navigate.

I use the bus system in Miami every time I visit. You have only three choices. Taxi. Rental car (no place to park) or bus.

The only problem you might encounter arises during busy hours. The worst time to get on the bus is 4 pm to 10 pm. It will be very crowded and you may have to stand.

You can buy the card:

Miami Beach

71 St Liquors

211 71 Street

Miami Beach, Florida 33141

Hernandez Cash Express*

1458 Washington Avenue

Miami Beach, Florida 33139

Lee Ann Drugs

955 Washington Avenue

Miami Beach, Florida 33139

Ship and Pack

9429 Harding Avenue

Surfside, FL 33154

Stop N Shop

1300 Lincoln Road, C-1A

Miami Beach, FL 33139

Tripping Outlet

2300 Collins Avenue

(Located inside Walgreens)

Miami Beach, FL
