where do we stay

having a week in Miami from Tampa (after a cruise) with car - hope to see the everglades and etc. and of course Miami architecture. Biut where to stay - budget I would take pot luck for most of the week but will book for the last two nioghts prior to going to Miami airport. Thought about La Quina Inn Ocean Surf or El Palacio

Parking is important as is cleanliness and a complimenmtary breakfast would be nice.

Any suggestions please - particularly whether we can 'take pot luck' in the Everglades? Thanks

Time November 11th to 18th Is it very warm then?

If you can spend around $100US a night, I would urge you to try Miami Beach. Switch over to the Miami Beach Forum read a few reviews for the Greenview, The Clay, Atlantica Suites (includes breakfast), Villa Paradiso, Tropics Hotel/Hostel...

You can also contact www.southbeachrentals.com to check availability.

November is lovely - less humid but still sunny and warm.

Check a few of those places nearer to the Beach and you'll be closer to all the fun...

2. Re: where do we stay

Thank you advisor girl but as over 65's we are not really worried about a beach - to visit for a short while ok but not to stay near necessarily. We wanted to explore the whole region and be not too far from mia when we return home. Also at November the prices are quiote a lot higher than the average. But thanks for your input. I am torn between the two airport La Quinta's is there a better one between them for traffic and driving? Thanks again Pru

Sorry - I haven't visited the motels by the airport. I was thinking that if you will be in town a full week, the industrial areas by the airport are going to be rather unpleasant.

How much have you budgeted for a hotel?

Excellent Choice! Espanola Way is the ideal destination for your family... Here are some maps of the ares:

southbeach-usa.com/maps/miami-beach-maps.htm

At the corner of Lincoln/Washington Ave is a storefront to book a DUCK tour, featuring a motor coach that is able to drive right into the Bay so your land tour becomes a boat ride as well. Miami Beach has a great deal to see via the inland waterways. You can also take walking tours of the Art Deco landscape via the MDPL preservation league based at our wonderful Wolfsonian Museum at 10/Washington Avenue. The museum is an amazing way to spend an afternoon if you would enjoy a little culture with your sunshine...

Family dining is available all over the Beach. Lincoln Mall has many great shops and cafes to choose. I like Spris Pizza, Pizza Rustica, Le Bon Belgian, Davids II Cuban, Miss YIp's Chinese, and the Ice Box for Brunch. Nearby, on Liberty Avenue closer to the Beach is Parilla Liberty for grilled meats and a great patio bar and soccer action at the bar.

South of Lincoln at 14th is your hotel on Espanola Way - Oh Mexico! , Hosteria Romana, Tapas Y Tintos, A La Folie Bakery, and Lost Weekend Pub are great places to check out.

For your Keys GREAT ADVENTURE...

As long as you can swim, the park has all-inclusive boat trips out to a shallow area over the most breathtaking reefs for snorkelling. The crew carefully demonstrates how to snorkel and provides safety equipment. You will want to bring: bathing suit, towel, STRONG sunscreen, and maybe a dry change of clothes.

If you are reluctant to try this out, you can just go along for the ride and tan on the boat. It's BEAUTIFUL out there...

There are also glass bottom boat tours for the non-wet-set... Tours are 2 ½ hours long. The Spirit Of Pennekamp departs three times daily, at 9:15, 12:15, and 3:00. Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for children under 12.

From 8:00 am until 3:45 pm, they offer canoe and sea kayak rentals for exploring the wild, winding mangrove creeks of the park. Prices for canoes are $12 per hour

From Miami Beach, take 95 south to 836 west to 826 southbound following the signs to Florida's Turnpike south to US 1. Take US 1 to Key Largo. Look for the State Park entrance on your left at Mile Marker 102.5.

Coopertown, itself, is home to a population of 8 human residents, a restaurant known for its down-home style frog legs, an educational center and the entry point to guided tours into the "real" Florida Everglades aboard the Coopertown Airboat fleet!

Have a Great Trip!
