day tour to Keys

Has anyone taken the snorkelling day trip to Key West from Miami, if so how was it. I'm considering taking in near the end of Feb. with my daughter and granddaughter. Thanks

Not sure your granddaughter's age and swimming skills?

Best bet is to drive about an hour south to John Pennekamp State Park where you can board a glass bottom boat ride or join a group snorkel trip to the shallow waters at the coral reef. Be aware that the snorkel trip requires you are ALL strong swimmers (there is no place to STAND in the water - it is too deep for that so you must swim well enough to keep afloat for about an hour).

It almost sounds like OP is looking at a packaged tour from Miami.

I wouldn't ever do it - you are going to spend hours on a bus / car / coach / van and spend minimal time in the water. If the weather is bad the bottom is not clear you may see very little. You would be better not going as far - IE the upper keys and Pennekamp or waiting until you have 24 - 36 hrs in the keys and can really sort a good chance out.
