Post cruise stay for family with young teens

We have a two night stay next April (weekend before good Friday) after a cruise.

We have never been to Miami before or anywhere in this area. Been to Orlando and Gulf coast a few times. We are looking for a relaxing hotel or resort and to perhaps some shopping. Someone thought Fort Lauderdale might suit better but we really don't have a clue where we should stay. Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Thanks

In Ft. Lauderdale, the Best Western Pelican Resort is highly recommended. or the Marriott at Beach Place.

Useful Ft. Lauderdale web sites include:

www.sunny.org - Ft. Lauderdale info

www.greatlocations.com - Ft. Lauderdale info

www.lasolasboulevard.com - restaurants and shopping

Pelican Beach resort is not available for our dates as I have already tried there. Marriott is expensive on Marriott website but may suit our needs. Thanks for your help on this one. Will look into it and try to find out how to get the best deal.

How about this place, in Highland Beach. It's near West Palm Beach, very relaxing and a nice place just to hang out and enjoy the beach. It's a Holiday Inn, but we think it should be called a "fancier" hotel name because it is very nice, clean, comfortable and we love it there--have been at least 6-7 times and going back in a week or so.

Highland Beach, FL try looking on Holiday Inn's website.

Well here is the deal,

Miami beach and SoBe is more expensive then Fort Lauderdale. There are also more clubs/pubs and nightlife (more SoBe than Miami beach). You will most likely see naked people on the beach as Miami beach is Unoffically a nude beach..so keep that in mind. If you have boys in their low teens they will probably want to spend all their time on the beach rather than the pool or arcade for some odd reason lol.

Thats all.

Oh also, Fort lauderdale has more american culture verses Latino culture which is really what Miami if mainly these days.

Either way, good luck

Also if you are set on Fort Lauderdale and the Pelican is booked.. check out the SHeraton Yankee Clipper and Yankee Trader. I hear a lot of good things about those two hotels.

Thanks for your advice. I will look into these options as well as Marriott Beach Place, which seems to be a good rating.
