marlins game-where to stay

hello, researching a trip for a southern baseball tour (we're in so cal). We would be driving in from st pete's (tampa bay). Where possible, we prefer to be within walking distance of a stadium, or at least of a train station to get to a stadium, or, at least within reasonable cab distance. No idea what kind (if any) of public transportation miami has-is a train even possible? we don't care about being near the beach at all (we have our own beach at home, no big thing), but we always enjoy downtown views, if we can get them...any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Dolphin's Stadium is a driving destination so if you have a car, driving to the game is the best choice. There's a post somewhere a few weeks ago that described a hotel near the stadium but it's not really a destination spot. The miami bus system seems to have a bus that goes to Dolphin Stadium. It also has a stop at the Coconut Grove metro station. You could stay at the Hampton Inn almost across the street from that. Or in Coral Gables or downtown Miami. Those would be inexpensive cabs to the metro station. Just take a cab phone number with you so you can get hoe from the game.
