Luggage in the back seat.

Hello. Is there a law in Florida that tells you can not put your suitcases in the back seat of the car (secured with a seat belt), with a passenger ?

I mean, if this is not allowed, why do cars have folding back seats? My plan is to fold one seat to get extra luggage space, leaving space for a passenger (10yo kid) on the back seat.

Thank you and sorry if this is a silly question.

No such law that I’m aware of.

Just make sure that the luggage is securely fastened such that it would not become a projectile in case of sudden braking to cause injuries.

I don't know of anywhere in the U.S. that has such a law.

A suitcase in the car while making a transfer is not illegal.

One thing to remember - if you decide to park the car and leave it on the street unattended, do NOT leave luggage in a visible area inside the passenger part of the car. If you must, ONLY put luggage and valuables out of sight in the trunk.

If a thief sees something through the window that could be of value inside the car (luggage, backpack, briefcase, totebag... laptop, cellphone, passports, etc), he might wish to break the window to steal it.

Be safe.

Enjoy your trip.
