alternate beaches due to dredging

Hello :)

We (my boyfriend and I and two teenage daughters) will be staying in Marco Island for the first time at a non-beachfront hotel for a week in early April. Due to the concerns with dredging at South Beach, and due to some concerns with the access to Tigertail Beach, are there any other good beach options?

Also, any tips/suggestions for things to do with teens- shopping? cool experiences?

Thank you!

Don't let the dredging keep you away from the Marco beaches. You can still park at the South Beach access area, you just may have to walk a few buildings north to be away from it. Noise is not an issue where they are dropping the sand. Tigertail is worth a try, also.

Without knowing your girls' interests, here are some suggestions for things to do:

rent a boat and take it to a waterfront restaurant and an uninhabited island for shelling, sunning

jet ski tour (we love Cap't Ron's Everglade Adventure)

shop at the surf shops, Miromar Outlet Mall (by the Ft Myers airport), 5th Ave in Naples,

paddle boarding (rental available on the beach in front of the Hilton and Marriott)

beach volleyball (on the beach by a number of hotels)

airboat ride in the Everglades

movie at Marco Movies

rent kayaks

backwater fishing (Capt John Stop is great with our kids)

or just play games and hang out! :)

Have fun!

You might also want to consider having a taxi take you to and pick you up from the Crystal Shores parking lot. I think the taxi will cost $6 each way and the Crystal Shores public access point is north of the South Marco beach access point. Parking at the South March Beach will cost $8 for the day.

Have a great time on Marco!
