More touristy than Anna Maria Island?

Was initially looking at Anna Maria Island for Easter break next April but could not find any mid-week rentals and very expensive. Wondering if Mad Beach might fit the bill - we're a family of 4 looking for something right on the beach, relatively quiet, very clean, kind of "old Florida". Heard that it is kind of Jersey Shore/boardwalk busy?

Well it is miles busier than AMI.

Most rentals are weekly (and some are zoned that way). Look at Lido Key maybe? Many places allow it during off peak but not during the high season.

In any case Easter is one of the peak weeks and finding less than one week will be difficult most places and will cost a lot more per night if they do allow it (like for instance Hyatt Siesta Key Beach Club).

It is busier than AMI. But, it is not the busiest in the area. It is one of the smaller beach communities between the busier Clearwater Beach, and St. Pete Beach. Even slower, less crowded beaches will be North of Mad Beach, Redington, Indian Shores etc.
