Oyster Po Boys

We're vacationing in the Clearwater area and would like to know if anyone can recommend an eatery that sells PO BOY sandwiches in the area, preferably Fried Oyster.

This ain't New Orleans! Not really something you hear about much here.

Although, www.crabshack.com has oyster Po Boys/sandwiches.

/www.whiskeyjoestampa.com has what they call Po Boys. They are on Cuban bread, so a bit of a local flavor to it. Don't have Oyster though.

These you can get to in 30 min or less depending on where you are in Largo/Clw.

For a great local sandwich, try a Cuban sandwich. They are VERY good !

Nearest place to get a real one (there are fake ones that aren't so good) is the Airport Variety Store accross from the St. Pete/Clearwater Int'l Airport

or at the Columbia Restaurant on Sand Key/Clearwater Beach www.columbiarestaurant.com/clearwater.asp

Shrimpy's in Treasure Island offers several different New Orleans-style Po Boys, including fried oyster. Not too bad a drive down Gulf Blvd from Clearwater Beach.

ETA: Whoops. Just realized that I responded to an old post and the OP has probably come and gone.....
