Villa burglary

We're currently staying in the Four Corners area off the 192.

The villa was broken into while we were out during the day.

The Sheriffs Dept caught the guy and we didn't lose anything.

The cop told us that holiday homes are getting hammered.

Lots of tourists seem to be travelling with thousands of dollars in cash and the thiefs are making 20k a week easily.

The guy that did ours isn't a junkie. He uses the cash to live a nice lifestyle.

Take a pre paid card like a Caxton card with you rather than wads of cash. These cards are accepted everywhere like a credit card.

Take your valuables out with you or hide them in the most unlikely place.

Use a bit of common sense and even if the worst happens you won't lose out.

Always book a villa with a safe. Most will list them on the inventory. I'd never book a villa without one. Agree with pre paid FX cards though, best thing ever.
