Coastal Fishing

I get into Islamorada around 10:30 on Friday and would like to know if anyone can advise on what coastal fishing might offer, staying at BudNMarys' and thinking about just riding up the coast about 1000-2000 yards offshore in a kayak, what's available? type of bait? minimum test line? any suggestions for self guided fishing with variety? This is the warm up day before we go offshore, can't wait!!

Your best bet would probably be to ask the guys in the bait shop right there on property. They should have the most up to date on whats biting right there etc.
