You are staying right near Holiday Isle, if you really want to fish, hire one of the charters. I love fishing with "Gotcha"

Tides depend on when you are here and where that moon is in it's phase etc. It changes everyday. Google the tide charts for the time you will be here.

How to get around? You need a car, or boat, depending on what you meant by that.

Drop Anchor has a nice sea wall that you can fish for snapper from.

Most bait & tackle shops will give you some info on whats being caught and what bait to use. You should buy a navigational chart too. The tide really moves quickly around the bridges so you really have to be careful going thru them. Caloosa Cove on the south end of Islamorada has always given us good info. You can also go to Holiday Isle & Whale Harbor when the charter boats are coming in and get some info there.

Navigation on the gulf side is more difficult due to the shallow waters and the tide drops quickly. If you are fishing in the shallows you have to pay attention or you will be pushing the boat out of there.
