Is there a better day to drive the lekys

I know this sounds dumb but is there a better day to drive the keys? We will be based in Key Largo and want to visit the other islands.

the drive to KW from the upper keys will be slowe on Friday afternoons and Sat mornings. And from KW to the upper keys will be slow on Sunday night.

(think traffic to and from northern MN on fridays and sundays)

Not a dumb question at all. As Buffettguy says, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays can be quite busy. And since we actually have to work down here, you'll find more traffic on the roads at the same times you would in any other area. (But nothing like rush hour in Minneapolis.) Speed limits range from 35 to 55 from Key Largo to Key West, and they're strictly enforced. Be careful, patient and kind, and enjoy the view.

During our two stays, we never ran into traffic going back and forth from Key Largo to Key West. Like BuffetGuy said, avoid friday nights and saturday mornings going south and sunday nights going north. Key Largo is the perfect location when you want to make day trips to Key West and the lower Keys, or to the mainland. Have a great vacation.
