Main Beach condos vs. Summer Beach

Our friends are staying in a house just off Simmons Rd (Cormorant) and we are trying to rent (2 BR) close to them so we can head out to the beach together. Amelia by tthe Sea and Amelia South seems to be pretty close to their location, but I'm told by friends that these units are older and run down. We do prefer to stay at nicer properties. I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with the condos in this area and can make any suggestions. I know that Summer Beach is quite nice, but a car ride away from our friends. Trying to decide what will work best!

It is a peak season trip in June. And we've stayed at the Plantation in years past. I think that is too far away from our friend's location. Any input is appreciated. Thank you!

The condo units you mention certainly have been well maintained on the outside, but you can't judge a book by its cover. If you get a unit through a property management agency, you can ask for pictures and are more likely to get a well maintained unit as the agencies require minimum standards as they want repeat business. Summer Beach and the Plantation are definately more upscale with the prices to go along with those amenities as well as farther south. Unique aspect of Amelia by the Sea is its private pier that extends far out in the ocean.
