Fishing in Florida Keys

Are there any spots in the Keys where you can fish from shore, or do you have to go out on a boat (your own or charter) to enjoy the famous Florida Keys fishing.

We have caught some fish from the piers at resorts we have stayed at but most are undersized and you have to throw them back. Lots of people fish from the many bridges in the keys, not sure how good they do but I know there are fish near the bridges.

Keep in mind you will have to have a fishing license no matter where you fish and you have to know all the rules and regulations. The marine patrol is pretty strict in the keys.If you go on a charter boat you do not have to purchase a license as they have one that covers everyone on the boat.

If you can - get out on a charter and see how awesome fishing can be here.

Which charter services do you recommend and what is the average price we should expect to pay?

"The keys" area 100 mile stretch of islands. There are charters all up and down the keys. Where will you be?

Will you be going off-shore? Will you be reef fishing? Do you want a 1/2 day, full day?

All will have an affect on the price of the charter.

We will be staying in Key West. We prefer flats or backwater fishing to off-shore. I've done that out of Islamorada. but what about KW. We'll be there in Mid-March for only two days, so will probably do a 1/2 day charter. Is there bonefishing near Key West? Are tarpon there in March?
