Our family is booked at Sandcastle II - our unit # is 2806. Has anyone stayed here? Would appreciate any information on the condo. Thanks!

Hi, My family is also booked into Sandcastle 11, but not until April. We have not stayed at this property, but have stayed on the same strech of beach a few times, and have seen all of the Sandcastles. The building looks great from the outside and have seen pictures of the inside condos. The area is really great for kids, really nice beach and great Gulf views. Also near to restaurants and shopping. Clear water beach is a short drive away. I am sure you will have a great time.

Hello NB Canuck!

I am very sad to say we have just arrived home from a fantastic week stay at Sand Castle II. We were in # 2702 which is a 3 bed/2 bath condo. Let me begin by saying this complex is a great place for families, whether they be small or large. The balcony view of the entire beach is incredible, I have never seen a sunset like the one we seen in all my life. It literally turns the entire room cherry red from the glare. I will summerize the pros and cons of our stay and hopefully it will be of some use for you when you're ready to escape!

Incredible view, sunsets are gorgeous

Very polite and friendly people, majority are retiring age (60-80 yrs)

Rooms were neat and clean

Comfortable pullout couch, loveseat & lounge chair

Big flat screen TV with premium cable channels

DVD player

Nice home theatre stereo with cassette/CD/MP3 player

Complementary DVDs

Plenty of hot water

New washer/dryer

Guide to local dining/entertainment/shopping

Beach cabana rental (only place on the beach, cost is $20/day)

Plenty of toys and beach chairs

DSL internet access (really helped with mapping, bring your laptop!)

Suncoast Trolley (operates daily at least every 10 min, trolley stop just outside the condo)

Great dining along entire Gulf Blvd., have something different every night

Hot tub & heated pool, clean and not over crowded

Local grocery shopping just around the corner off Walsingham (Publix & Albertsons)

Nice sand cleaning station for washing off from the beach

Beach was full of seaweed

Sand was full of seashells, consider wearing shoes down

Not well equipped with cleaning supplies (had to buy dust pan, no mop)

Doorlock only basic, deadbolt not lockable from outside

Not enough towels

Fire alarm went off around 11:00 PM, firefighters said due to faulty wiring

Extra things to bring:

Electric grill (great for cooking breakfast)

Extra towels, both for beach & bath

DVD player for bedrooms

Recommended things to do:

John's Pass for shopping, just 5 miles south of SC II

SunCruz casino cruise

Tampa Aquarium

Lowry Park Zoo

Busch Gardens

Enjoy your stay, we certainly did!

I am somewhat surprised about your negative beach comments... we enjoyed the shell hunting and we didn't find it hard on the feet. As for the seaweed, that must be a temporary or localized thing as we didn't experience that at all.

You can't have the sea without seaweed! Of course it is worse after a storm disturbs the ocean. And the town rakes the beach once a week, so no big deal.
