First time to Florida, any info on the weather, crowds & hotels would be greatly appreciated.
You can see October rainfall and temperature averages here: www.weatherbase.com/weather/weather.php3…
Regarding hotel questions, could you be more specific? What are you looking for?
Sorry, just general info, is this like off season, less crowds, beaches still busy, all the shops still open. must do lists and don'ts. Might drive to Key West. Nice mid range hotel on beach.
I have only stayed at two Hollywood hotels. The Westin Diplomat is a 4 star property right on the beach. It is a superb hotel, but very pricey. The Crown Plaza is also nice, but not so over the top as the Westin Diplomat and on the intracoastal waterway rather than the ocean. It is also more reasonably priced. If you don't get a lot of responses here, I'd begin to look at the Tripadvisor reviews of Hollywood hotels.Edited: 7:53 pm, August 09, 2013
The big Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show begins 10/31 I think , so probably affects hotel rates and availability even in Hollywood which is really just to the south of the Marina area of Ft. Lauderdale. It usually fills all the hotel in that general area at very high prices. Rental cars may be very , very expensive as well. Many vendors come in early to set up elaborate displays or entertain clients. It might be a challenging date to plan a vacation here.
