Sharks teeth and shells

Where is the best place to find them? I've been to Sanibel in the past and was disappointed with the shells...a friend of ours has said Marco Island beaches are full of shark's teeth...how far is that from FMB north end? And is it worth the trip?

Go to Venice Beach for Sharks teeth. You step on them there are so many.

Marco is an hour drive or more from FMB, depends on traffic. Sanibel has the best shells but its all seasonal. The morning after a very cold winter storm is best. Shark's teeth come from sand that has been dredged up from offshore an put on the beach. That may be why some beaches have sharks teeth and some don't. My opinion is that it's not worth a trip to Marco to go shelling. Try wading in the surf on FMB. You can often get small sand dollars with your feet! FYI I lived there for 10 years and have a shell collection you wouldn't believe.
