Destin in September

Based on the recommendations received here, we have decided on a condo at Maravilla. We thought if we came after Labor Day that school would be back in session and, perhaps, it would be less crowded. We are coming the second or third week. What can we expect as far as crowded conditions for restaurants, etc. and temperature wise? Thanks again for all information provided.

Restaurants will be less crowded but there will still be a slight wait for some of the more popular ones. The beach will have fewer people but the chair setups still take up a lot of prime beach. So go early if you want a front row spot. Temps are great during September but it is also the heart of Hurricane season so its a gamble on the weather. We always visit twice a year once in early May and the 2nd week in September and think that's the best time to visit.

We go every year in June & October. We have gone in September and the beach was perfect! Just like a summer day only no crowds and no waiting in line at restaurants. we go every September, usually the 3rd week. the only time is wasn't spectacular was the year of the oil spill. beaches aren't crowded, almost everything is still open (Big Kahuna shuts down after Labor Day. boo!) and the weather is perfect!

How's October ? Has the June grass typically cleared up by then?

We go in September every year. 3rd week. Its my favorite time to go. Hardly any crowds. Perfect beach weather. Not so hot in the evening. Nothing worse than getting into a hot car to go out to dinner. That doesn't happen in Sept. Been going down for 25 years and only 1 time was affected by a hurricane (Ivan). It hit just before our trip and had to cancel. Worked out...got an amazing last minute deal to Costa Rica...

September and October are the 2 best months here!!!! Water still warm, weather still warm, and usually the humidity has gone too!!!!

Since the water is still warm, it is Hurricane system... Just buy travel insurance and don't worry about that!

June grass is typically gone (not that there really is a time for it though) Might have a day or 2 of Dog flies on the beach during one of these months...

October 1 - 31st is the annual fishing rodeo, and the first weekend of October is the annual seafood festival!
