Honeymoon in Delray Beach

Would anyone say that Delray Beach is a nice place for a honeymoon? And, what is the weather like in October?

Thank you!

I live in Delray...it could definitely be a nice place to honeymoon, depending on what you're looking for. If you want something laidback and less busy than Ft. Lauderdale or Miami, it would be great. The beach is pretty nice. Delray is about 20 minutes south Palm Beach, 25 minutes north of Ft. Lauderdale, and an hour north of Miami. Naples (on the west coast) is only about 2 hours away. You can definitely base yourself here and go sightseeing all over South Florida.

There's a nice downtown district with shops, restaurants, and galleries. On weekends it will be people-filled well past 11 pm. There are a couple of clubs, but if you want to do serious clubbing it would probably be better to go down to Miami. Delray has more bars/pubs than nightclubs.

In October, the weather is usually good (high 80's, cloudy with showers in the afternoons, but nice and sunny in the mornings). However, remember that it is hurricane season - so there's a chance that you could a) be stranded inside if a hurricane hits while you're here and b) not be able to come at all.

The Sundy House is probably the nicest place to stay - rooms are a little pricey, but it is beautiful. It is in downtown Delray Beach, not on the beach. Crane's Beach House is also an option. It is right on the beach. I've heard good things about it.

For food - definitely go to 32 East. It's expensive ($150 or so for two people, with dessert and drinks) but SO worth it. There are lots of other good places too - Sundy House for brunch, Yama for sushi, Falcon House is good if you want to take your time eating outside.

The Balinesian Spa is in Downtown Delray as well.

Hope this helps - best of luck to you and your beloved, whatever you decide!

Delray Beach is a great place for a honeymoon. You are at the beach, near shopping and wonderful restaurants. I would say to make reservations at Tramonti's or Sundy House for a garden table. Both are very romantic. Crane's Beachhouse is a very romantic spot only a block from the beach. It has the cleanest rooms and great staff. You will feel like its your own private resort. At night the hotel is very peaceful. You can enjoy the quiet area where the hammocks are and listen to the soft waterfall of the nearby fountains. The staff will want to pamper you and help make it a wonderful vacation. They have a tiki bar with live entertainment every Friday and Saturday with the best happy hour specials. Its a very magical place to stay. Congratuations....
