Where to stay

I am looking for an OF hotel to stay located within easy walking distance to restaurants and bars. We really don't want to drive around once we get there. Any suggestions?

The tourist "center" of Cocoa Beach is around the intersection of east-west highway 520 and north-south highway A1A, about 4400 north. From there. Ron Jon is a couple of blocks south and the pier is about ten blocks north. There are many restaurants right around that area.

The closest good hotel to that area is the oceanfront Inn at Cocoa Beach, a boutique hotel that is more geared to adults than families. Farther south, next to Ron Jon, is the Sheraton, but it is a block or two off the beach.

Up at the pier, which also has a cluster of restaurants and bars, are the La Quinta Oceanside, which I think is a good value, and the Best Western. If you choose the latter, be sure to ask for the tower building if you want oceanfront.

Father south, there are some other oceanfront hotels, the Doubletree, Marriott Courtyard, the Hampton Inn, and the Hilton. The Marriott is actually a bit off the beach so as to interfere with the view, but close enough to get to the beach easily. These are all along A1A, where there are some restaurants, but not as many as farther north. The International Palms and the Ocean Landings are even farther south, close to a few restaurants, but only some of the rooms at each of those are truly oceanfront.

There is a #9 trolley bus that runs along A1A, all along the 6-mile long tourist strip, from the cruise port on the north to downtown on the south.
