Staying here after a stay in Orlando from 25th May for 4 nights. Realised it's memorial day weekend while we are there - anyway, we only have a 'standard view' room booked, wondering on the chances of getting upgraded to an 'ocean view'? Should we maybe fax the hotel before arriving to ask? Or will it be heaving as it's memorial day weekend?

Glad to hear you like to drive. You can explore up and down the coast by car and try out different places to eat. It is very laid back in the area and I am sure you will love it.
We drove the opposite way from Clearwater Beach and found some nices places to eat (with the locals). There are tennis courts and some water sports equipment if you want something more energetic. We booked our kids in for Tennis lessons and were delighted with Carl, the tennis pro.
The hotel has a small shop and I believe you can ask for a fridge in your room, which is probably a good idea if you are there for 2 weeks.
We also went up to Tarpon Springs, which is a greek community. Something different.
