Looking for family hotel in Clearwater, St. Pete area

My 4 year old son and I had planned to be in Anna Maria Island for a long weekend starting this Wednesday but have been scared off by the red tide

Can anyone provide recommendations for accommodations in the Clearwater St. Pete areas? I am looking for a place that is kid friendly, on the beach, and in an area that can be seen easily without a car. A place with beach supplies (e.g. canopy, toys) or a nearby place from which to rent those would also be preferred.

The Tradewinds in SPB would be a good choice. If that is too pricey, try the Sirata or the Alden.

Would you encourage St. Pete over Clearwater? Was debating between Wyndham Grand in Vleareater near Pier 60 and Tradewinds in St. Pete. Looks like there may be more for my son at Tradewinds, plus I believe there is a trolley there. Thoughts?

Clearwater Beach and the Wyndham is a excellent choice. Great location and easily walkable to everything. The pier and park will keep a 4yobusy. Plus if the red tide is still a issue, CB is a bit north so may not be affected by it. The trolley, rickshaw bikes etc are available too.

I know there is a Residence Inn at the beach now. The brand is known to provide loaners to the guests. Don't know if this exact hotel does the same.

Getting a kit by the beach should be no more than $10.

Pier House 60 is just across the street from CB and in walking distance of many attractions. It will be near the top of your budget based on dates.

We are here now with our 3 year old. We are staying at the pier house 60, it has been perfect! It isn’t directly “on” the beach but it’s right across the street! We are within walking distance to everything! I wasn’t going to rent a car but decided to at the last minute. It was a waste of money, we haven’t needed the car once!

Currently there?

Quick family vacation planned 10/24 - 10/27 there.

What affects of Red Tide are you seeing there?

Thanks..
