Cedar Key in January?

Hi all,

We're arriving in Jacksonville on 1/3, plan to see St. Augustine and the Space Center, then are thinking about swinging around to Cedar Key, where I understandd the "real" Florida still lives ... we have never been in FL and are looking for something rustic, charming, and different.

What's the weather like in these parts during the first week or so in January? I know what to expect in Jax and St. Augustine, but not on the northwest Gulf coast. Is it possible to canoe, kayak, boat tour, etc., at that time?

Thanks for your help,

It will be a bit cold, I would expect high 60's/low 70 at day and 50's at night unless we get an extreme cold front. January and February are our coldest months.

You will love Cedar key, it is not a "beachy" sort of place, more of a fishing village but yes, it is still "Old Florida" at it's best!

Absolutely must go to Cedar Key - January is great weather, 50's and 60's as previously said.

What will floor you is the friendliness of the locals - they all say hello, how are you?

See Capt. Doug for the 'tour' and bundle up if you rent a kayak!
