Is there a shuttle to Disney World from Port Canaveral?

DH are planning to take a Royal Caribbean cruise out of Port Canaveral in Feb. We fly into MCO the day before & will stay near the Port that night. We are thinking of staying on a few days after the cruise and would prefer not to rent a car. We were thinking of staying at Disney for a couple of nights

There are dozens of companies that shuttle from the port and Cocoa Beach / Cape Canaveral to the Orlando area. The port's website provides a list at portcanaveral.com/cruising/groundtransport.p… . $30-35 per person is a typical rate to/from the airport. Some of the hotels around the port have packages that can include shuttle service from/to Orlando, parking while on the cruise, and transfers to/from the cruise terminal. The packages are convenient, but not necessarily cheaper than you can assemble yourself.

As psbcap says, the best way to get to/from Orlando is via rental car, as the drive is really quite easy. It takes about 45 minutes to MCO and 60 to Disney, mostly on expressway. Avis, Budget, Dollar/Thrifty, Enterprise/Alamo, and Hertz all have offices near the port at Cape Canaveral / Cocoa Beach, and generally there is no one-way or drop-off charge, so rates are as low as $50 for the trip.

Having a car allows you to take a day or two before or after your cruise to explore the area around Cocoa Beach (10 minutes away), which includes Kennedy Space Center (20 minutes away), Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Canaveral National Seashore, and its pristine, isolated Playalinda Beach, all adjacent to KSC. The area is the surfing capital of the US east coast, so you can watch surfers from the Cocoa Beach Pier or even take surfing lessons yourself. Also, there are the Atlantic Ocean beaches, kayaking through the Thousand Islands, air boats to see alligators on the St. John's River, sailing, gambling cruises, deep-sea fishing, parasailing, paddle boarding, jet-skiing, and even sky-diving. The flagship store of the Ron Jon Surf Shop chain is at Cocoa Beach, and is open 24 hours with a huge selection of casual and beach apparel, as well as their famous tee shirts.

There are close to 200 restaurants on or near the highway A1A and 520 tourists strips, as well as dozens of hotels, including major chains like Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton, Doubletree, Radisson, Hampton Inn, LaQuinta, Holiday Inn Express, etc. The best rooms are on the beach, where you can fall asleep to the sound of the surf and awake to the sunrise.
