Bradenton Beach - is it on Anna Maria Island?

Dumb question? Hope not! I'm from Illinois!

We are looking to rent a condo on Bradenton Beach. Does the trolley run there, since we are hoping to not have to rent a car.

There are 3 townships on Anna Maria Island, Bradenton

Beach is the southern township, Holmes Beach is the

middle township and the Village of Anna Maria is the

northern township. The Free trolley runs the 7 mile

length of AMI, every 15 minutes.

Depending on how long you'll be in the area and what your interests are, you might still want to rent a car if only for a few days. The trolley is fabulous and will easily and conveniently get you around AMI. But there are off-island places to explore if that's of interest.

The trolley is wonderful but remember this is the busy season and you may have to wait as long as an hour before you get picked up!

Will the wait for the trolley be as long in a few weeks' time? We arrive on 30 April for a week. Thanks.

By then we are into really low season. Don't worry.

Kris, I got the impression that the number of trolleys had been reduced (cost cutting?) as I didn't see them as often while on the public beach, the week before Easter.

There hasn't been anything in the paper about it, and the island locals use the trolley a lot as well. If I hear something, I'll post about it. I do think that the slowness of the trolleys around Easter was most likely due to the general amount of traffic on the island.

The trolley schedule on Longboat Key (down Longboat to St. Armands and to downtown Sarasota) will be shortened this Summer but I haven't heard of any cutbacks on AMI. In order to save money during the Low Season the Longboat trolley will stop service after 8 PM and, I believe, also run their trips slightly farther apart.

Bradenton Beach is one of three towns on the barrier island of Anna Maria.

While the Trolley is a fun, open air experience, it will not replace a car. A car will allow you to extend your beach experience slightly south to the St. Armand's area and Mote Marine.

As a native, I can assure you that you will have a great time no matter what you do. We are a laid back beach area that is perfect for relaxing and unwinding.
