Mohegan Blackjack Play

I'm typically an AC BJ player and I guess I've been spoiled...

Does anyone else out there find Mohegan blackjack players to be horrible? I've learned I just need to play by myself....another poster told me to bring the strategy card with me and last Saturday I did....they players did not care....I still "messed up the cards" by doubling my soft-18 vs. dealer 5. The dealer even said I took his bust card...

Is it just me that finds the play bad there compared to AC?

Also, I find the Match the Dealer bet distracting...

It's got to the point where I just don't play there unless I find an empty table.. Everyone's a "pro" and can't keep their mouths shut.

I've never played AC but even when I play Vegas(some casinos worse than others) it's not as bad as CT.

It's obnoxious, I'll stick to midi-baccarat - although it's overcrowded I don't have to listen to some clown telling me that I cost him a hand...

i just ignore the table and play the way i want to play and hope that the table isnt too terrible, sometimes i watch players play before i sit down, regarding doubling the soft 18, last time i was there this girl had a thousand dollar bet down, i just split a couple of times and had two doubles with three lousy hands and had about $600 down. she was the anchor had a soft 18 the dealer had a 6 and asked if she is supposed to double against the 6, i told her the book says to double, but since she has such a large bet she could double for less and told her would understand if she stayed, she doubled for the full grand, pulled a five, dealer turned over a ten and broke, if she stayed we all would have lost. contin.

regarding match the dealer, i dont mind the small delay, but more players are more concerned with match the dealer than blackjack, they should just open up match the dealer tables. i never play and every player at the table, the dealer and the pit boss harrass me to play. the odds are horrible, they pay 4 to 1 for a 13 to one chance to win. what gets me that after a hundred hands when i finally get a match the other players go see, yeah what about all the hands i didnt match, i would be down thousands. the last time i was there this guy was betting $50 on match the dealer, hit 3 suited matches relatively quickly and won over $1,500 but at $50 a hand gave it all back within 30 hands and couldnt figure out why he was losing.

Boston,

Thanks for the reply. I'm happy to confirm its definitely not just me. We have some interesting players in AC but I've never met so arrogant, big mouth, (blank)holes than most Mohegan Blackjack players. Its just ridiculous...I normally like playing on the main floor but when I've officially had enough of the nonsense, I end up in Sky High Limit where you're guaranteed to find a table to yourself.

Good luck!

gd,

You sound like you really know the odds down to a tee with BJ. I'll be the first to admit, I am a sucker for the match the dealer bet. Do I play it every hand? No.... But MS has definitely made a lot more $$ off me than they would have if the bet wasn't there.

I don't like how they offer that bet in all of their HL pits. In AC, you'll never find a side bet in HL pits with a few exceptions (Taj - one table - match the dealer, Resorts - a table or two of match the dealer, and Bally's - two tables of Lucky Ladies.). I feel insulted when they put that sucker bet on a $100 table....

I think it is just amazing the difference in BJ play between the two destinations.....and even Mohegan to Foxwooods has pretty significant differences with their players....

I just follow the "best odds" card each time so.. I don't know much else I can do to not be a bad Blackjack player.

i also play high limit slots which are horrible odds. but since the payout can be extreme, it is worth the risk. but i try to play when i have their money.

what i have recently noticed is that my last five outings to mohegan have yielded winning trips and i have been getting clobbered in ac. i always find a winning table in mohegan, and even a bad table has not been horrible. in ac at several casinos i am shell shocked by the amounts of double downs pulling a 20 and the dealer pulling 21, how many times i broke on 12 and never seeing the dealer break on 12, and the dealer just not breaking at all, the amount of 20's and blackjacks that the dealer dealt themselves, and no matter how many hands at the table, the dealer always having the best hand. if it wasnt for casino control i would say that the deck is somehow fixed. sorry to vent

I know the feeling, just the opposite. I'm finally getting decent play in AC. Foxwoods/Mohegan are just killing me, to the point where I've given up. Surprisingly, CET is treating me very well from my mainly BJ play, mixed in with a little slots/3CP play. Keep the winning up at Mohegan gd.
