Mohegan Sun Restaurants - What's good?

Hi all,

My husband and I have stayed at Mohegan Sun several times, but usually eat at the same restaurants (The Summer Shack, The Dubliner, and Tuscany). We used to love Tuscany, but found the food was only okay our last couple of visits. I'm just looking for opinions on other restaurants since we'll be going back next week. We don't care if it's a cheaper, casual restaurant or a more expensive, fancy restaurant - we just want good food.

Which restaurants are your favorites? Also, can anyone offer an opinion on the Sol Toro Tequila Grill? We love Mexican food!

Thanks!

I love the Summer Shack....it is by far my favorite place to eat at Mohegan Sun. The service is on spot and the food is fairly priced and so yummy. I know alot of people will not agree with me, but I love Birches as well. The Lobster Macaroni and Cheese is to die for. Thier portions are HUGE and fairly priced. I have never had anything I did not like there. Thier menu is limited BUT has some really great things to choose from. I have been to the Buffet's a few times and I would consider them average at best. Johnny Rocket's - yummy. Michael Jordans Sports Cafe - HUGE, overpriced but yummy burgers. Fidelia's - good for breakfast. It reminds me of Friendly's for breakfast. Nothing over the top. Simple fare.

My husband and I eat at the player's club lounges alot so our dining out is limited. Again, I have to say give Birches a try - you might be pleasantly surprised.

Enjoy your trip and win lot's of money!!

Godiva:

MJ Steakhouse or MJ 23 is really good. A host once

steered me to the BabyBack Ribs. Scrumptous. Everything there is pretty good (MJ23)

The Longhouse is a good find. Don't forget

Pompeii and Caesar. Never tried Bubbas but it's always busy. For a quick Deli bite, Chief's Deli

in the WIND Casino is really, really good. The Potato

Pancakes w/app sauce&sour cream ($5.00) is a gem.

Like mamma used to make.

I've yet to do Tequila. but it's owned by Mr.Jordan

so it's prob good. It's always busy.

Enjoy!...

Try to go on this link. Punch up MENUS for the different eateries. It should give you a heads up.

if you like mexican, you will like sol toro, margaratille is also good and has some mexican dishes. michael jordans is the best, big bubba is ok for barbecue, pompei and caesar is the best of the three mohegan sun gourmet restaurants. mj sportcafe is also good but the menu is limited.

MY favorite at Mohegan is Michael Jordons. we used to be big fans of Tuscany years ago ,but after several disappointing meals, we just stick to Mj's.

Thanks, everyone, for your help. We'll most likely try Sol Toro and a few of the other suggestions mentioned. I'll let you know how we like them.

We usually play the poker tables (mostly Let it Ride), but we're going to try a couple Hold em tournaments this time. Hopefully we'll win enough to stay an extra night! :)

Thanks again!

also, if you like to eat at a bar, you should try "the cove" it is the bar that sits outside of the Longhouse, Pompeii & the Oriental restaurant there.

The burgers are AWESOME and huge. Salads and seafood are very good too and the prices are very reasonable.

I will say we had some garlic bread or something similar once and it was mediocre. But overall it's a great place to stop for a casual bite & a drink.

I agree that Birches has a great variety and very good food. I am not a fan of Fidelia's. Bubba's has very good food and service, as does Summer Shack, as stated.

The food at the buffet at the Casino of the Sun is very fresh and much of it is prepared in front of you. They always have at least 5 great tasting, varied soups. They have rotating risottos throughout the week which is a draw for me, I generally skip the great tasting desserts which include a variety of hard ice creams, not just soft serve like most casino buffets, and fresh Belgian waffles with a variety of toppings, because I have more risotto instead. :). Let your server know you want a crepe at dessert time and they will assist you with that. YUM!

there is a cheesburger in paradise by my house in upstate new york so i was very happy when margarataville opened at mohegan, i was only able to eat there once because of the crowds, the trick is getting their early since they dont take reservations. i was very pleased with the food and service and will try to get back there again.
