NH, Vermont, Maine, Berkshires- all good places. Two weeks is a good deal of time. You could stay at B&B's and travel through New England.

Boston is good a couple of days,

Woodstock, VT.

Plymouth, MA.

Newport RI,

Mystic, Ct.

White mountains in NH certainly(Kancamagus Hwy), do some sales tax free shopping while in White Mts, go up Mt. Washington.Pick your own apples at an Orchard.

Canterbury Shaker Village in NH Also Portmsouth NH and consider a harbor cruise.

Please be mindful that rooms get booked early. Height of foliage season is variable but earlier in northern NH and Vermont (First wk of Oct)For an Update on New Hampshire Foliage Reports Call 800-258-3608 or 603-745-8720

Yankee Magazine has a foliage tracker on their web site.

If you go to Mystic, that's lovely.

Newport is nice.

Boston is a must. One problem: having a car in Boston is an expensive hassle. Good idea to fly into BOS (if you are flying) and tour the city w/o the car and then rent the car. Parking in big-city hotels runs about 30-/day and you really dont' need the thing when you are in the city.

West of Boston, the scenery is lovely and there are beautiful apple orchards for apple picking and scenery. Google Honeypot Hill orchard and the David Maze.

The Maine Coast is lovely. Boothbay Harbor is quaint. York and Old Orchard are more honky-tonk but are also fun. If you do the Maine Coast, then you might forego the Cape or vice-versa.

For "New England" fall scenery, I like North Conway NH, up that way.
