How is the skiing mid April?

Got 2 days April 16 and 17. Looking for the closest place to Denver that will still have good skiing.

Lodging suggestions? cheap. Rental car or is there a shuttle available from Denver airport. Planning on arriving Thursday night. How late does shuttle run is ther is one?

WP will be closed. See link for CO ski resorts (except for Vail Resorts -KS, Breck, Vail and BC) closing dates.

Best shuttle service is CME.

Good snow? Matter of opinion. Conditions will be near summer like. Consider Copper.

" Conditions will be near summer like. " In April ?? I think not.

Near Denver look at Loveland or A-Basin. A-Basin will be open into June. Loveland will close sometime in May. The closest lodging to A-Basin will be Keystone, cheap yes as Keystone Resort closes the weekend prior.

Breckenridge closing date is April 18, 2010. Spring Massive at Breck is very fun. Breck is what I'd do, deals abound at that time.

Copper closes April 18th. 75 miles west of Denver. There are always end of season deals and Sunsation.

Best conditions? Loveland and A Basin (Arapahoe Basin) are at higher elevations. No lodging at either though.

This from one of our local ( Denver ) weather persons blog

" The next 30 days as far as temperatures go look to be near normal for most of the state with one exception- southeastern Colorado could see cooler than normal temperatures in March. Denver's Average high in March is 53 degrees with an average low of 25 degrees.

The longer range model which includes March, April and May not only has the entire state looking at experiencing above normal precipitation but the wetter than normal pattern is expected to expand northward into portions of Wyoming and Nebraska over the next 90 days. If that forecast holds true Denver could be in for some significant moisture being that March and April on average are our 1st and 3rd snowiest months. "

While no one really knows what the weather will be like that far out. It is typical that we get big snows in March and April.

Don't you love it? March comes in like a lamb and then dumps 4 feet of snow. We've received 40" at our house since Friday. : )

Thought of you Babalax and Dawg, hope you all have everything to keep you warm and cozy!

Love it? Not so sure but it is to be expected. Like most I wish it were warm and sunny everywhere but ski areas....where it can snow until closing date but then must stop!
