Lodging & Tickets

What is the best way to book a vacation near Winter Park? Looking for something around February - March. Do you recommend booking directly through www.winterparkresort.com? Booking a hotel room then purchasing lift tickets separate? Airbnb? Just trying to see what is most cost effective based off what other people have done. Thanks.

I'm not very familiar with Winter Park but I do see that they use liftopia.com . Compare prices there to whatever deal you can find on their web site. I just looked and saw a season pass is $469.

Sounds crazy to buy a season pass but it's cheaper than 4-5 days at the window price. Plus, compared to the usual "5 of 7" day pass or whatever, you can ski a little bit every day, instead of feeling like you have to ski the whole day if you start a day.

Never pay the ticket window price, anywhere.

In the past Winter Park was part on the BOGO offer through Shell Gas. They don't give any details for this year until sometime in December. I have had better luck with Airbnb VRBO than with WP central res. I usually stay at an older property in town rather than at the resort. Personal preference. Also note the train tracks, that train can get loud.

This post seems to disappear and reappear Something odd with TA. Anyway I usually stay at Hi Country Haus condos. They are old but most have been updated.

I booked a while ago but found booking separately was much cheaper than booking through the resort even with some packages the resort had for early booking. We did VRBO and saved hundreds vs the resort price for the same place. The lift ticket prices were the same on Liftopia and through the resort. We got the four day pass which was a much better price than resort price for 4 day lift. Again, this was booked back in August so pricing may have changed. I would just take the time to price it both ways.
