Private ski instructors

We are a family of two adults and two children aged 6 and 8. All of us can ski at intermediate level.

We have skiied before in Tremblant and have learnt to ski with qualified private instructors that are not linked to the much more expensive ski schools.

I wonder if anyone can recommend how we can find private ski instructors for our forthcoming trip in March 2008.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Ski School is your best bet - a private instructor through ski school would likely be about the same price as group lessons for each member of your family. Check Vail.com for ski school information.

Thank you for your speedy reply but we will need two or three ski instructors as we are at different stages and ages.

One teacher would not therefore be sufficient and if we are to get 2/3 teachers, experience has been that private ski instructors (who maybe work in ski shops) would be interested in 11 days teaching for a few hours each day.

Any help you may be able to give us would be greatly appreciated.

See my answer to your Breck post. Ski shop employees who have season passes (at a reduced price) probably would not risk having their pass lifted competing with the ski schools. Besides, you're complicating your vacation trying to coordinate this yourself. Do two 1 day privates (1 for adults; 1 for kids) and be on your way.

Hello, I'm not sure if you found the information you needed. An idea: We were in Steamboat a few years ago w/ our twin 4 yr. old boys, and hired a babysitter from a service who just happened to also be a ski instructor! It worked out great! She could take them back to the condo when necessary, and otherwise, get 'em goin' on the skis! And it did turn out to be less than ski school, and always better to have individual assistance. We're hoping to find something like that at Copper in February 08.

If you book a private instructor through the Vail ski school I can recommend Rich Adams. Ask for him when you book.
