Need Telluride lodging close to activities for kids

We are planning a vacation to telluride and would like to find affordable ($200-$400 per night)accomodations close to activities for kids. We are a family of 4 with children ages 6 and 11. None of us have ever skied so we want to find accomodations that will be close to ski school, tubing, ice skating, beginner slopes etc... I realize we won't be able to be close to all of those things but we would like to be relatively close to some of them.

Any advice would be appreciated..... Thanks!

For sheer convenience, I would recommend the Mountain Village. The only thing missing is the tubing.

There used to be a tubing hill in the MV on the ski area that operated at night, but not enough people used it. MV is probably the right place. There is an ice rink, beginer slopes and ski school centrally located in the MV (Mountain Village) with a great gondola ride into Town that the kids love.
