Help!

We are trying to decide on where to stay in Steamboat...I had narrowed it down to The West condos but then found out that it wouldn't be an easy walk to the ski school. We have a 6yr old and a 1yr. old that will most probably be in a stroller. ANY SUGGESTIONS? We trying not to spend an arm and a leg but want to stay somewhere convenient. We are not renting a car. Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks!

See the bottom of this page about transportation in Steamboat:

I don't know where "The West" condos are located, but it sounds like you may be able to catch the public shuttles to get to and from the ski area.

The West Condos is not far from the ski area, but a bit far to walk with a 6 and 1 year old. BUT they do have a private shuttle to the ski area are shops and restaurants - steamboatresorts.com/lodging/lodging.west.asp

If you want REALLY convenient then I would go for the Sheraton (hotel - http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=220) or the Steamboat Grand (hotel and hotelcondos - http://steamboatgrand.com/GrandHome.aspx). I don't know whether you can get a deal at either that doesn't fit into the "arm and leg" category, but it is worth a look...

Other place to look are the "ski time square condos" (http://www.skitimesquare.com/) and Thunderhead Lodge and condos (…trcdirect.com/hotel/index.shtml)

Hope that helps :)

The Lodge is an excellent choice. It's a very nice property and has excellent shuttle service that is very family friendly. It's well within walking distance to the ski school, etc.
