Steamboat condos for March

Looking for recommendations for condos for March skiing. Should be either ski-in/out or within 100 yards of the main lift area. For two adults and two kids (13, 10). Not interested in VRBO. Need someone local who'll handle problems promptly.

Thanks.

We have been very pleased with all condos we've rented through Steamboat Resorts (steamboatresorts.com). We've stayed at Kutuk, the Dulany, and the Lodge. We've also stayed at the Snowflower. It's right across from the Dulany and approximately the same price range, but it was nowhere near as nice. The Dulany is the closest to the gondola and was beautiful.

For us (two kids 11, 8), we've stayed at the Lodge for the last 5 years. It's across from the Dulany, listed as 200 yards from the gondola. They still run a ski shuttle to the base, which we find easier. It runs about every 5 minutes or so. The Lodge also has better transportation to town. The Dulany shares shuttle service with the Lodge, so you've got to walk over there to catch the shuttles. We think it gives excellent value for the money.

With your older kids, you might give Kutuk some consideration. It's ski in, walk out, conveniently located to a lot of nighttime activities. It should provide good access to the new high-speed Christie lift. It was just too far from the ski school when we had toddlers. The 2-bedroom condo was HUGE.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Steamboat Grand is a good option. Nice accommodations and across the street from Gondola Square. Also, there actually are a few places on VRBO that have local owners, including one place in Gondola Square. Finally, a real nice ski-in, ski-out is Christie Club. Enjoy your trip.

What sort of budget are you looking at?

We have stayed at Bear Claw (http://bear-claw.com/) for the past 4 seasons (a couple of weeks each season) and find it hard to beat. It's ski-in/ski-out location is fantastic (although how much this will be effected by the current slope regrading and new lifts, I don't know...). It is a very friendly complex and has a pool, lounge/bar and hot tubs. The main downside is that it is on the "quiet" side of the hill (i.e. not easy walking distance to any shops/restaurants), BUT Bear Claw has an excellent private shuttle. Bear Claw doesn't have in-room laundry facilities (has a communal laundry room in the basement of the main building). And all units are privately owned - so can vary in standard/decoration (we have stayed in three different units over the four years and haven't had a problem with any of them). Since Bear Claw is an older complex, the units may be more dated than some of the more modern complexs (although most owners seem to be doing some updating). Value for money wise, though, it is an excellent property.

Christie Club seems really excellent to me (have done a tour around): great location, great units, great facilities... but very expensive... I believe that Steamboat Resorts wants $700 per night (excluding taxes) for the two bedroom unit in value season.

Steamboat Grand is a fantastic "full service" condo-hotel and is great (we stayed there for one night a few years ago). Love their condo units (we much prefer renting condos to hotel rooms - more space and freedom....). Their pool and hote tubs are huge and fantastic. There is a gym and spa on-site and a couple of restaurants on-site (although I really don't rate Chaps, the Cabin is ok). The Grand is a 200 yard walk to the gondola (with boot/ski storage in the Gondola Square) and also a reasonably easy walk to Ski Time Square (although I don't know how that is affected by the current construction...).

A few thoughts anyway :-)
