Glenwood Springs 3 days at New Year

We are a family of 6 adults planning a ski vacation in Aspen and Vail. We always stay somewhere for a few days first to acclimatise to the altitude and get over jetlag before we ski, and this year we plan to book at the Hot Springs Lodge for 4n over new year. Can you recommend activities as well as the pool at that time of the year and also suggestions for NYE. We will have a car. Any advice appreciated.

Glenwood Springs is great and we love staying there. You'll enjoy the hot springs. I would suggest, however, that four nights is a really long time there, especially in the winter. That's especially true if you're then going to Aspen and Vail (both?).

There are quite a few restaurants in walking distance. Our favorite is The Pullman, located just across from the train station. Sorry, but can't help you on best suggestions for New Year's Eve. If you want to get a head start on your skiing, Sunlight Mountain is a nice small area in Glenwood. You can also bus pretty easily down to Aspen (or drive).

If I understand you correctly that you're doing four nights in Glenwood and THEN going skiing, my suggestion would be to cut that back a bit to three or even two nights.

Have fun.

IMO avoid the springs NYE or be prepared for curb-to-curb bathers unless you're okay with that. To dine out in Aspen reserve early.

Thanks for the responses. We are going to stay 3 nights now and then head to Vail. Other than the hot springs, we are interested in local history, beautiful scenery etc, but not sure how easy it is to access things in winter conditions. We will have a hire car.
