Best Horseback Riding in Colorado Springs for first-timers ?

We are planning to go to Colorado Springs in June. Seems like the two horseback riding places that are good are Academy Riding Stables and Stables at Broadmoor. We are a family of 4 (2 kids - 8 and 12) looking for a 1 hour horse ride; we have no experience with horses. Which one do you recommend ? Thanks !

Both get great reviews...Stables at the Broadmoor gets even better reviews, I think in part due to it's location though riding through the Garden of the Gods is a great location too. The reviews are helpful. One reviewer for the Stables at Broadmoor mentioned they were great with young kids (new to riding, etc.). The emphasis of the Academy website is safety....which is great. One reviewer who does ride felt it a bit stifling to her abillities for it to be so rigid. They have a great website and lots of things they offer. I don't think you can go wrong with either...we were going on a ride at the Stables then something else came up and we weren't able to go so I can't back this with personal experience. I was intrigued by both the reviews for the stables and the setting of the ride. I love the Garden of the Gods too but it's a busy place so I felt this would be a quieter truer to nature trip to go to the Stables at Broadmoor. I do believe it's a bit of a drive in one poster mentioned when I was reading posts on the forums awhile back so perhaps that deters some people. I don't know what that meant if it was just off the beaten path a few minutes or what. You'll get some better answers I'm sure from those who've been to one/both.

Academy is in the Garden of the Gods. Broadmoor is in the mountains. So I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I would probably do Garden of the Gods on foot, and the mountains on horse. Just know that the Broadmoor stables is about 15 miles on a dirt road. The drive itself is an adventure within itself. Allow time to pull over and take in the views. You do not need a 4 wheel drive, however, you'll need a little extra time to get there if you don't. Check the age requirements before you book, I think you are OK.

Thank you very much (hatchpal4u and springschick); your replies are very helpful. We will do Broadmoor.
