Driving from Denver to Estes Park, with a stop in Boulder

We fly into Denver and head toward Estes Park. We've heard so much about Boulder, we'd like to stay one night. What is a convenient place to stay that won't take us too far off the road to Estes Park? Thanks.

Just about any place is convenient. Hwy 36 runs right through Boulder (aka 28th street). There are several hotels on 28th: The Millennium Harvest House, Boulder Outlook, Two Best Western hotels, the Marriott is one block off 28th.

There is also a Holiday Inn Express on the north end of town.

About the drive, take 119 through beautiful Boulder Canyon to Nederland where you join the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway into Estes Park or take 36 to Lyons and highway 7 through very pretty South St. Vrain Canyon through Allenspark and on to Estes Park, the latter section also on the Peak to Peak.
